RSE “Institute of Nuclear Physics” of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy (hereinafter referred to as INP) invites you to take part in the Science and Practice Workshop “The Institut Laue-Langevin Research Reactor and Neutron Facilities: International Opportunities for Research in the Scientific and Industrial Sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan” on May 25-28, 2026, organized by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy (hereinafter referred to as ARKAE) and INP in cooperation with the foreign collaborator Institut Laue-Langevin (hereinafter referred to as ILL), Grenoble, France.
The Workshop includes 9 presentations from the ILL experts on the basic technical and scientific capabilities of the ILL neutron facilities as well as practical information on the participation in the ILL user program for research.
The Institut Laue-Langevin is an international research center, one of the nine, major, European research infrastructures. It offers exceptionally high neutron fluxes to researchers through more than 40 state-of-the-art instruments. As a service institute, the ILL makes its capabilities and expertise available to visiting scientists. Each year, the ILL hosts approximately 1,400 researchers from more than 40 countries, and conducts over 1,000 experiments selected by a scientific review committee.
The ILL has 13 member countries which fund the ILL for the benefit of their research communities. Kazakhstan has been invited to join the ILL as a member country. Following the Workshop, a Comprehensive plan for Kazakhstan's participation in the ILL user program for research will be drafted.
The Workshop will be of interest for universities, research institutes and R&D centers, heritage saving organizations, industrial and healthcare organizations.
The workshop will provide a systematic presentation of the capabilities of ILL's state-of-the-art neutron research infrastructure and analyze the prospects for its integration into the scientific and industrial ecosystem of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Applications for participation in the workshop are accepted until April 20, 2026.
During the workshop, scientific and industrial organizations interested in the ILL User Program will have the unique opportunity to present potential projects to the ILL experts and discuss their feasibility at ILL. Please submit your projects until May 1, 2026 via e-mail: a.uspenskaya@inp.kz
